It is usually taken for no longer than four months to treat anxiety disorder and for no longer than ten weeks to treat panic disorder. Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions very carefully.

What to know before taking Alprazolam?
You should not take Alprazolam if:
You also take (antifungal medicines); or

Ask your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It may harm an unborn baby. Avoid taking this medicine during pregnancy.
If you are using Alprazolam while you are pregnant, your baby could become dependent on the medication. This can be life-threatening withdrawal symptoms in the baby after it is born. Babies born depending on habit-forming medicine may need medical treatment for several weeks.

Alprazolam Dosage
Usual Adult Dose for Anxiety:
Immediate-release tablets/ orally fall apart tablets (ODT): 0.25 TO 0.5 Mg orally administered 3 times a day
-Maximum dose: 4mg/day
Usual Adult dose for panic disorder:
Immediate-release tablets/ ODTs 0.5 Mg orally manage three times a day.
-Maximum dose:10 mg/day
Extended-release tablets:
-Starting dose: 0.5 to 1 mg orally once a day
-Feeding dose: 3 to 6 mg orally per day, ideally in the morning
-Maximum dose: 10 mg/day
Observations:
-The lowest feasible, effective dose should be administered, and the need for continued care reassessed often.
-Dosage should be reduced slowly when discontinuing therapy or when decreasing the daily dosage.
-The daily dosage may be reduced by no more than 0.5 mg every three days; therefore, some patients may require an even slower dosage trimming.
-The dose of enlarge-release tablets may be enlarged at intervals of 3 to 4 days in an increase of no more than 1 mg per day.
